This is the prayer text from the January 5th consecration:
Dear friends, rejoice that God so moved the hearts of people that this kitchen can be repaired for better safety and service. Let us now consecrate it for service and celebrate its holy use. O Eternal God, mighty in power and incompressible majesty, whom the heavens cannot contain, much less the walls of temples made with hands, you have promised your special presence whenever two or three are assembled in your name to offer praise and prayer. By the Power of your Holy Spirit consecrate this kitchen to your service. Bless us and sanctify what we do here, that this place may be holy for us a welcoming and safe pace for al people. Guide and empower in this place by the same Spirit the workers who will repair and recondition, the preparation of food that will follow, the joining of men and women in fellowship, our times of prayer, and those who will be fed because of this kitchen. Save us from that failure of vision which would confine our understanding of this kitchen to being ours alone, but bless us to be servants in the world, sharing the blessing of Christ with the world He came to redeem. Now, O God, sanctify this place, for everything in heaven and on earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the dominion, and you are exalted as head above all.
Eternal God, we thank you that Christ, the Bread of Life feeds us body and spirit. When your food is prepared from this kitchen, purify the lives and hands of those who cook here, that your food may be shared, offering your spirit to all who receive. May the work of our hands and the food in our mouths be acceptable to you, O God, through Jesus the Bread of Life. Cod’s care for our bodies is real. We consecrate the meal program in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
