Where do you look to find God? Where is your sacred space? How do you know when you have found it?
A spiritual journey is not always a straight line.
A typical journey is an adventure complicated by detours, side trips, accidents, unanticipated curves and unexpected roadblocks. A spiritual journey takes us through unimagined dimensions of awareness about self, others, and a most incredible God.
At Summerfield Church, spiritual unity is expressed in our acceptance of each other with all our diversity, rather than in religious like-mindedness. At Summerfield, worship is motivated by the yearning of the human spirit and by a gratitude for the divine presence in our lives, rather than a message of duty or guilt. At Summerfield Church we enjoy God and one another.
Where do we look to find God? We look into ourselves, we look into each other, and we look into the community beyond the congregation, where God is working in amazing ways. Where is our sacred space? Our sanctuary is one of the most spiritual places for many who have used it to pray for over a century. But our sense of sacred space extends beyond the doors and walls into the places we live everyday. How do we know when we have found it? It’s when we meet and discover the divine presence alive in each other.
Blessings to you in your journey! Rev. Don Greer Pastor, Summerfield United Methodist Church
